1870 Steakhouse - Adelaide

Went to watch Port Magpies play Aussie rules. Then went inside ti club 1870 for a few drinks and dinner. Everything you could want really, well priced drinks and equally well priced meals. Menu is more than we expected from a football club. Worth a try.

We dined on a Monday night, and were surprised to find the place packed and buzzing. My husband and I enjoyed our meals - schnitzel and parmi were good!! No complaints from us!

We had a very nice experince at Port Adelaide Football Club Prior to the game last Saturday. Expecting a good pub meal we were not diappointed with a Scotch Fillet cooked medium rare to perfection and a salad & hot vegie bar with a good selection & nice & fresh. A good steak before the footy or at anytime you will nor be disapoointed.

Attended PAFC for a meal while visiting friends in Adelaide. It was a Thursday night which I am told is their busiest night, with Footy Talk and meat raffles. The place was packed. We were all hungry so went to order. We wanted oysters but there were none left. Same deal with wings and ribs. I wanted the beer battered barramundi, also sold out. Eventually settled for a steak. I ordered the scotch fillet, medium. One of my friends ordered the scotch rare and the other had the schnitzel. The teenager got pizza and a bowl of wedges. The steaks arrived, cooked as ordered and beautifully tender. The chips were a bit under done and the Diane sauce tasted like gravy. My friend reported that the schnitzel was very good and there were no complaints about the pizza and wedges. I liked the salad and vegetable bars. All in all a pleasant meal although they might want to review their supplies on busy nights.

Went here for dinner. Terrible!Ordered Garlic Bread. Was specifically asked if we wanted it as an Entree (wasn't aware it came as anything else?) and waited a good 30mins before it came out only for it to be followed by our main 1 min later. Clearly an error on the kitchens behalf.Boyfriend ordered the chicken parmi which was as big as his head. The chips underneath it were soggy as they had been steamed by the meat and were not seasoned.I ordered the lamb salad. It was lamb, baby beets, pumpkin, spinach, walnuts with a yoghurt dressing. It was all wrong. I had precisely 4 small slices of lamb on my plate. ALL were overlooked and dry as an old boot. The pumpkin and beets were fine but the yoghurt dressing had absolutely no flavour to it and I think I had a whole bag of walnuts mixed in which overpowered all other flavours and was not pleasant. Pine nuts would've been much nicer.I left half my plate behind and filled up on the herb and cheese bread which was literally herbed focaccia with too much cheap cheese on top but when you're hungry you'll eat just about anything.The only reason this place scored hire than one in my books was because the facilities were nice. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable seats.I would never return and wouldn't recommend to anyone.
